Should I buy or rent the Aura?
Both give you the same device and the same features. The difference is how you pay, and what happens when you no longer need it.
Renting is the lower-cost way to start. You get the device and the service together for one recurring payment, from less than £1 a day, with no large sum upfront. When you no longer need it, you return it and stop paying. In the first year, renting actually works out cheaper than buying, so it’s the easy choice if you’re not yet sure how long you’ll need the Aura.
Buying is the better long-term value. You own the device outright, then add a simple service plan for the GPS, calls and support. If you’ll be using it for more than a year, buying costs less over time, and the device is yours to keep. When it’s no longer needed, it can be passed on to family or friends, who can reactivate it with their own plan.
In short: rent for flexibility, buy if you’re confident you’ll use it for a year or more.
How long does the battery last?
Battery life depends on how often the Aura updates its location. On the recommended setting, every 10 minutes, it lasts up to 10 days, which is plenty for most families.

And if they ever go missing, just tap Emergency Tracking (or Directions) and the Aura updates every 30 seconds, so you get pinpoint accuracy exactly when you need it, without losing the long battery the rest of the time.
How do I charge it?
Charging is really simple. You can take it on and off the stand with one hand, and there are no fiddly cables or small, hard-to-grip parts. You’ll only need to charge it around once a week, depending on your settings.
Is it waterproof?
Yes, and it keeps working even when it gets wet. That matters most in the bathroom, where a slip is one of the biggest risks, so they can keep it on in the shower or bath without worrying about damaging it, and still press the SOS button if they fall.
It’s also fine in the rain and wet weather. Its IP67 rating means it can handle up to 1 metre (3.2 ft) of water for as long as 30 minutes.
How do the safe zone alerts work?
Safe zones are places you mark in the app, like home, the GP, or a day centre.
You can name each one and give it its own icon, and you’ll get an instant alert whenever they arrive at or leave one.
It means daily reassurance without having to call and check: while you’re at work, you’ll know they got to their appointment safely, or made it home after church.
You can set up to 10 zones, and our support team can even help you set them up.
How does the subscription work?
